The UNP has appointed MP Palitha Range Bandara as the party’s chief organizer for Chilaw electorate. Mr. Range Bandara, also president of the party’s Puttalam district organization, was previously chief organizer for Anamaduwa electorate. It was under his leadership that the UNP, at the 2001 election, won this electorate, which it failed to secure even at the 1977 landslide win.
