Dengue-carrying mosquito killer from Cuba this week

Latest Health Ministry statistics show that the number of dengue cases had risen to over 12,300 with 152 deaths.

Sri Lanka will bring down mosquito-killing bacteria from Cuba this week to curb the dengue epidemic, the Health Ministry announced. According to director general of health services Dr. Athula Kahandaliyanage, two Cuban specialist doctors will also be arriving in the island to provide necessary advice. Discovered in 1982, BTI bacteria have proven to be a successful deterrent against the mosquito that carries dengue.
