US continue to press for political reconciliation in Sri Lanka

The United States Thursday said that it would continue to press the Sri Lankan government to grant humanitarian relief organizations full and unfettered access to the internally displaced persons residing in camps in the north, and to engage in political reconciliation with its Tamil minority.

Ambassador Robert O. Blake, Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, who recently concluded his term as the US ambassador in Sri Lanka made these remarks in a testimony to the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia on Thursday.
