Strong winds damage houses in Sri Lanka

Nearly 150 houses were damaged due to a strong wind that blew across several villages at Siyambalanduwa in Monaragala District Sunday evening. The Disaster Management Center in Monaragala confirmed that a gusting wind blew across the villages for about five to six minutes with torrential rains at about 3:00 p.m. Madugama, Ruhunu Danawwa and Mahakalugolla were the most affected areas by this strong wing, Disaster Management Center said. However there were no injuries reported due to the disaster. The Disaster Management Center has already taken steps to provide relief items to the displaced persons.
